Understanding the Xero Dashboard

How to use the Xero dashboard panels to monitor bank balances, cash flow, sales, and purchases at a glance.

XeroDashboardNavigation

The Xero dashboard is your business command centre — it gives you a real-time snapshot of your finances the moment you log in. Here's what each panel shows and how to get the most from it.

Bank Account Panel

Monitor your current bank balance and access bank reconciliation directly. Hover over any dot on the graph to see the balance on that specific date.

Cash In / Cash Out Panel

Shows money moving in and out of your business, drawn from the bank summary report. Hover over a bar to see the breakdown for that month, or click a bar to open the full bank summary report.

Account Watchlist

Displays specific accounts you've chosen to monitor closely. Each account shows two figures:

  • The balance posted during the current month
  • The balance posted for the financial year to date

To add an account to the watchlist, go to the Chart of accounts, open the account, and enable the option to show on the dashboard watchlist.

Sales Panel

A summary of invoices owing to you, organised by how long they've been outstanding. Hover over a bar for a quick summary, or click to open the Sales overview page.

Purchases Panel

A snapshot of the bills you need to pay and when they're due. Hover or click to drill into the Purchases overview page.

Customise Your Dashboard Layout

Tailor the dashboard to show what matters most to you:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the dashboard and click Edit dashboard.
  2. Move panels — click on a panel and drag it to a new position.
  3. Hide or show panels — click Hide or Show to remove or add a panel.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.
